I’ve had a website since 1998 and was blogging before I knew it had a name. For a stretch in the early 2000s, I was running multiple blogs on topics ranging from Asian American film to politics to cultural critique. But for the past twenty years, I’ve done almost all of my posting on a single site, gregpak.com, mainly to promote my comics, books, and films, along with the occasional personal post. For more general tomfoolery and partisan political talk, I had a Twitter account, and it all seemed workable enough.
But here we are watching Twitter fall apart on the verge of the 2024 elections, with no clear social media replacement in sight, and I’m realizing I should have a place of my own for non-business-related posting.
So last week I finally registered gregpak.com/gpn/ and set up this WordPress blog for my personal posts. Are people still reading blogs? Will search engines and social media sites even show folks the links to this place? Who can say! But it feels right to me, so I’m gonna be blogging like it’s 1999, and I thank you in advance for coming along for the ride.
All the best and more soon!
