A small, strange personal project

Sidewalk outside of an AMC in the East Village. Graffiti on the wall, a couple of orange pylons with white chains strung out along the street in front of the sidewalk, edge of the theater on the far right. 35mm color film, expired, grainy and dusty.

Twenty eight years ago I sat on this sidewalk with a bunch of film school friends waiting for a movie. I remember that vividly as a tiny, glorious moment when I did not have a care in the world.

So whenever I pass that spot, I try to photograph it. Still haven’t captured that mood again on film, but I’ll keep trying.

Canon T70, Canon FD 28mm f2.8, Kodak High Definition 400 (expired, 20 years old, overexposed 2 stops).
