Finally added a real newsletter to this site!

Big news: I’ve set up a Personal & Political newsletter to accompany this site!

I’ve been thinking about this for a year or two and finally had the time to wrap my head around it and figure out the best way to manage it — and now you can get FREE periodic updates about my blog posts as well as political and social calls to action by signing up at buttondown.com/gregpaknet!

Some of you have already signed up for updates whenever I make a new post on this site. The newsletter will be a different creature, probably coming a little less frequently and providing more of a compilation of recent posts with links, as well as any urgent calls to action or alerts. So please do feel free to sign up for both, or just pick the one that works best for you! Hugely appreciate you either way!

So why a newsletter and why now?

I did a lot of organizing to help get out the vote in 2024, like I do every election cycle. Mostly I shared information through my Bluesky account, and that worked great. But no social media site lasts forever. I’ll absolutely keep organizing through Bluesky. But a newsletter lets me reach friendly folks no matter what. So here we are!

On the technical front, I went with Buttondown on the recommendation of the very helpful Alex De Campi on Bluesky. It’s simple, clean, easy, and free with a smallish number of subscribers, which is a bonus. I also like that the interface relies on Markdown for formatting, which reminds me of my old HTML days and somehow feels faster to me than the block editing interfaces I see everywhere else. So far so good!

Here’s that link again — please do feel free to sign up, and thanks so much!
